The course has been designed for candidates who have an interest in sports therapy with the underpinning knowledge and understanding of providing sports therapy in football.
It is also an essential requirement for Clubs in the Hellenic League where a minimum qualification for the treatment of football injuries has been introduced. The knowledge gained will enable candidates to develop an understanding of anatomy and kinesiology, The Code of Ethics for Therapy, pathology and recognition of injuries, basic treatment and management of injuries and injury prevention. The skills acquired in the context of football may be transferable to many field-based team sports. Also covered are Emergency Aid and Child Protection for those candidates who do not hold these qualifications prior to the start of the course.
Candidates must successfully complete the following three units of study to qualify for this Level 2 Certificate: -
Unit 1 – Basic Anatomy, Kinesiology and Code of Ethics for Therapy
Unit 2 – Pathology and Recognition of Injuries
Unit 3 – Introduction to Basic Treatment and Management of Injury and Injury Prevention
The next course will be held at Greendown Community School, Swindon and structured as follows;
Session 1 – Friday 8th October from 1900-2130 hours, introduction, explanation of the course and provision of course materials. The tutor, Dave Callow, will also provide guidance on the preparation work and study that must be completed before the next session.
Session 2 – Sunday 24th October from 0900-1630 hours
Session 3 – Sunday 31st October from 0900-1630 hours
Session 4 – Sunday 7th November from 0900-1630 hours
In total the course runs for approx 25 hours. All parts must be completed, successfully, to qualify for this Level 2 Treatment of Injury Qualification.
The cost of the course is £175, but £170.00 to those who are members of a Wiltshire Chartered Standard Club.
