1st4Sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football (Club Coach)

The course is primarily designed for those in charge of Junior Football Groups and is an essential requirement for Coaches and Managers within Clubs who wish to obtain Charter Standard status. It will assist candidates in promoting and establishing working relationships, leading to high standards of behaviour with players, coaches, parents and officials. It aids the promotion of mini-soccer coupled with organisation and supervision of games and also explains children’s growth and development, the learning process, overplay injuries and football fitness. Also covered are the Laws of the Game, elements of Football Administration, Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Children.

The courses will be structured as follows;

Week 1, Friday evening, 1830 – 2030 hrs, Introduction, Overview of Soccer Parent, Football Administration, Equity, Laws of the Game and Player and Coach Development, Classroom
Sunday, 0900 – 1300 hrs Practical Coaching session, Outside Pitch
Sunday 1330 – 1630 hrs Emergency Aid module, Classroom

Week 1 – Week 2, 6 hrs individual homework on the modules Soccer Parent, Football Administration, Equity, Laws of The Game and Player and Coach Development completing the appropriate templates found in the portfolio as the written evidence of completion of these modules. All to be completed by the second Sunday

Week 2, Friday evening, 1830 – 2130 hrs, 3 hours, Safeguarding Children module, Classroom.
Sunday, 0900 – 1130 hrs Long Term Player Development module; 1200-1600 hrs Practical Coaching session, Outside Pitch: 1600-1700, Checking and signing-off portfolio and issue of Topics for External Practical Assessment, Classroom

Week 3, Sunday, 0900 – 1230 hrs, Practical Coaching Topic External Assessment, Outside Pitch
Sunday, 1300 hrs until completion, approx 4 hours, Practical Coaching Topic External Assessment followed by feedback and action planning in classroom
In total the course runs for approx 33 hours, all parts must be completed, successfully, to qualify for the Club Coach Award.

The next series of courses have now been arranged as shown below, in each of the districts of Wiltshire. Further courses could be organised around the County to follow on from those scheduled below if there is a demand from Leagues, Clubs, Colleges and Schools, as long as there is a minimum of 15 candidates per course but 20 is the preferred number. All candidates must be 16 by 1st September 2009 and if between 16-18 by the aforementioned date there will be no course fee.

The cost of the course is £110 but £100 to those who are members of a Wiltshire Charter Standard Club and free to candidates who are between 16-18 on 1st September 2010.
