Ability Counts

Ability Counts sessions have been running for several years with STFC Football in the Community coaches delivering sessions. These sessions are for players with learning and physical disabilities. There are currently 2 sessions running on a weekly basis for both children and adults.

The children's Ability Counts session is also known as the Mitchell McCarthy Soccer Centre. This session is also linked to the Swindon Downs Syndrome Group as many of the players have Downs. Over the years this group has trained weekly at the Haydon Centre, Swindon, and have entered several football festivals.

The adults Abilty Counts session is open to any adult with learning difficulties. The session is supported by all day resource centres in Swindon but is also open to any adult with learning difficulties. Off the back of this project the disabilty strategy has supported 2 day centres, Upham Road & One Step Ahead, in setting up their own Adult Ability Counts Team - Swindon Leopards Ability Counts FC who now play in the South West Ability Counts League.
