Swindon Rockets

Swindon Rockets are a Powerchair Football Club based in Swindon. Powerchair Football is an exciting, fast-paced, adapted version of our national game for wheelchair users. The game is played on a court in Powerchairs, which reach speeds in excess of 12mph, and is a 4-a-side based game.

The group have come a long way over the past year. A group of wheelchair users apoproached the disability strategy to see whether there was any opportunity to participate in the game of wheelchair football. A year down the line Swindon Rockets Powerchair FC was formed and the club now has over 20 playing members, have formed a committee and are now currently in the process of raising much needed funds which will enable them to be able to compete in the National Powerchair Football League.

To take part in the league Swindon Rockets require specialist wheelchairs which cost around £4,000 each which they are currently working towards. The team train on a weekly basis at Nova Hreod School, Swindon.

The club have participated in several friendly festivals and recieved coaching from England's Powerchair Coaches.
