What is a Player Development Centre?
A Player Development Centre (PDC) is a local County FA run centre for U11, U13,U15 & U17(optional age) groups. Players gain access to the PDC through a trial process organised and delivered by the Wiltshire County FA. Having played school and grassroots football, the PDC is the next step of The FA girls’ talent pathway. Players can be nominated for trials by their teacher or grassroots club to support their ongoing development.
Who organises the Player Development Centre?
The PDC will be run by Wiltshire County FA. Wiltshire County FA will facilitate the organisation of the Centre along with appointing coaches and managers appropriate for each age group. Wiltshire County FA will administer the Centre providing players and coaches with all the necessary information relating to trials, training times and venues etc. Wiltshire County FA will be main point of contact.
What can I expect to receive at a Player Development Centre
The PDC will provide extra training and support on top of your grassroots club. Every player will continue to play for their local grassroots club, and receive one extra night of training and support from appropriately qualified coaches. You will also be invited to play in friendly fixtures against other PDCs which will allow you to show your true potential in a match situation. The PDC will provide you with extra support and bridge the gap between grassroots football and Centre of Excellence football
Where will the Player Development Centre be located?
There will be a minimum of 30 PDCs spread evenly across the country. Players will attend the closest Centre to where they live. The PDCs will run for a minimum of 15 weeks and a maximum of 20 weeks starting in October 2011. Wiltshire County FAs PDC is located in Marlborough. Training is on Monday nights 7pm.
How long can I stay at a Player Development Centre?
As long as you want! The experience coaches at the PDC will support you in your transition from PDC to Centre of Excellence should it be appropriate for you. If not, they will continue to support your development at the PDC subject to trials on an annual basis.
