The pandemic has had a profound impact on grassroots football across Wiltshire.

At the start of the season Wiltshire FA made the decision, like many of our member leagues, to continue with our competition programme (Wiltshire County FA Cups) in the hope that we would be able to fulfil the fixtures and provide a much needed boost for grassroots football across the County.  The season started brightly with County Cup competitions commencing on time with support of our member leagues, who we thank for their positive, open minded and determined attitude.

Unfortunately the season has not transpired as planned, and it has become apparent that there is little hope of fulfilling some of the County Cup competitions, before the end of June 2021, without significant knock on effect to our member leagues. With this in mind, we have decided to curtail the County Cup competition for season 2020/21. We hope this supports those leagues who are attempting to fulfil fixtures and complete their seasons.

This is a huge disappointment to Wiltshire FA and has profound financial implications to the association, at a time of sustained financial uncertainty. Never the less, we feel it is the correct approach.

With the above in mind, the following County Cup competitions will be cancelled with immediate effect:

• Premier Shield - CANCELLED
• Senior Cup - CANCELLED
• Women’s Cup - CANCELLED
• Junior Cup - CANCELLED
• Sunday Cup - CANCELLED
• Youth Cup - CANCELLED
• U16 Minor Cup - CANCELLED
• U15 Minor Cup - CANCELLED
• U14 Minor Cup - CANCELLED

It is our hope to play the following Cup competitions through to completion, due to the smaller number of teams involved:

• Veterans' Cup
• Girls' U13 Cup
• Girls' U14 Cup
• Girls' U15 Cup
• Girls' U16 Cup

We will provide more information on how we intend to do this, shortly.

In terms of next season, Wiltshire FA  will offer free entry into the County Cups, in order to offset the costs incurred by clubs during season 2020/21.

We hope to have your support next Season, to ensure that we have the best County Cup competition possible for Season 2021/22.
