Season 20/21 of the Wiltshire County FA Cup competition had just begun when grassroots football was postponed for the second time in a nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19.
Oliver Selfe, Wiltshire FA CEO said, “With just a couple of rounds played before the restrictions on football were enforced on 5th November, we are delighted that the competition is now underway, again, restarting last weekend with some of our Minor Cup ties.”
Now that football can resume, under strict Covid-19 guidelines, the competition continues with more matches scheduled to be played next weekend and early in the New Year.
With a brand-new cup sponsor, Replay Maintenance, the Junior Cup will kick off Round 1 on 12th December, Oliver continues, “It is great to have Replay Maintenance on board, their contribution will make a huge difference to grassroots football in Wiltshire. It is also great to have a sponsor attached to one of our oldest cup competitions. The Junior Cup is a fantastic competition which has been played since 1908, it attracts large numbers of teams and is a hugely competitive tournament.”
