The new 3G pitch in Salisbury will be host to a range of new playing opportunities.

Opened by The Manga Learning Partnership, in partnership with The FA, in January 2022, the pitch at Sarum Academy was funded by the Football Foundation, Salisbury City Council and The Magna Learning Partnership with the aim to transform the opportunities for all weather training and matches for those clubs who use the site.

Lyndon Taylor, Football Development Officer at Wiltshire FA said, “We are delighted to see this new facility open in the south of the County. 3G pitches are durable, safe and offer playing opportunities all year round, which will be of huge benefit to the local community. We have some great new sessions at Sarum Academy for men who want to stay in the game.”

Sarum Academy will now be home to a new 16+ Male Flexi Football League and a Veterans’ (35+) Male 6-a-side Football League.

Lyndon continues, “As the name suggests, flexi leagues are designed to make football as simple as possible, with minimum admin, to fit around busy lifestyles.

This, more casual, way to participate in adult male football means players can continue participating in the game, even if they cannot commit to traditional 11v11 Saturday and Sunday opportunities.”

The 16+ Male Flexi Football League will take place on Tuesday evenings from 9pm until 10pm with FA qualified referees. The Veterans’ (35+) Male 6-a-side Football League will play 40 minute matches on Monday nights from 8pm until 10pm.
