WILTSHIRE FA AND DEVIZES SIXTH FORM COME TOGETHER TO OFFER A

FULL TIME EDUCATION PROGRAMME COMBINED WITH FOOTBALL

Wiltshire FA is delighted to be launching an education programme in partnership with Devizes Secondary School and 6th Form.

Starting in September 2024 sixth form students will have the opportunity to combine football with their studies in a Football Education Programme with weekly training and fixtures in a competitive league, led by a UEFA-licensed coach. 

David Ridley, Facility Manager at Wiltshire FA said, “This is a unique opportunity for young people to combine their passion for football with a full-time education and development programme. The students can benefit from an outstanding learning and teaching experience which will push them to continue their football journey and set them on the path to establishing a career within the sports industry.”

With over 5 hours of training per week, including analysis and tactic lead sessions, every player will get a unique pathway to help them develop their game alongside their education, with opportunities to train with local partnered teams at a higher level. 

From September 2024, the Wiltshire FA and Devizes School Football Education Programme is recruiting a squad of male players, from years 12 and 13 (ages 16-18), who are enrolled at Devizes School, to be coached by a UEFA-qualified coach and to compete in fixtures weekly. 

David continues, “We encourage young people and parents to register on our website for the Open Evening on Wednesday 20 December. Please come and have a chat with us to find out more about the programme, we are excited to start meeting our potential students.

"We are launching the programme with one, male team, but intend to add more teams, including a female team, in September 2025.

"Keep an eye on our channels as trial dates will be announced in the new year."
